Former Arsenal midfielder Aaron Ramsey has spoken about his decision to join the Gunners in 2008, turning down offers from Manchester United and Liverpool.
Ramsey spent 11 years at Arsenal, making 369 appearances and winning three FA Cups.

Ramsey’s Decision Process
On Sky Sports and Monday Night Football, Ramsey recalled:
- The assistant manager of Manchester United, Rene Meulensteen, paid a visit to the training camp.
- Liverpool’s Rafa Benitez made a strong presentation, but the clubs did not agree on a fee (about £5 million).
- Wenger’s personal interest and detailed plans for Ramsey’s development sealed the deal.

Ramsey explained:
- Wenger’s belief in himself and his plans for the club made him feel valued.
- Wenger’s record for developing young players, such as Cesc Fabregas, has impressed.
- A meeting with Wenger during the Euros, where they discussed his vision and plans, convinced Ramsey to join Arsenal.
Ramsey’s success at Arsenal came to an end in 2019 when he joined Juventus. He then played for Nice and now plays for Cardiff City.
