Portuguese coach leaves Sporting CP to join Manchester United on three-year deal

Ruben Amorim’s appointment as Manchester United’s next head coach has been formally revealed!

Amorim is scheduled to join the team on November 11, which is excellent news following the departure of Erik ten Hag.

Amorim, a Portuguese coach who is 39 years old, has so far had a successful managing career.

He won the Taca da Liga, the Portuguese League Cup, three times and guided Sporting CP to two Primeira Liga championships.

His charm and tactical acumen have made him one of Europe’s most sought-after young coaches.

Details of Amorim’s Contract:


Amorim has agreed to a deal that will expire in June 2027, with an additional year’s option. In addition to his €10 million (£8.4 million) departure clause, Manchester United paid Sporting an additional €1 million (£840,000) for an early release from his 30-day notice period.

Future Schedule:

On November 24, Amorim will play their debut game versus Ipswich.

Other important games are the Manchester derby at the Etihad Stadium and Arsenal’s away game on December 4.

Until Amorim joins, Ruud van Nistelrooy will remain in control of the team.

Van Nistelrooy’s future with Amorim’s coaching staff is uncertain.
